Scott is a board certified specialist in both Canada and the United States, practicing the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
Scott grew up in Kelowna, BC. He completed his BSc at McGill University and dental school at the University of British Columbia. Scott then moved to Washington, DC to complete his training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the MedStar Washington Hospital Center. His residency included rotations through several institutions including Johns Hopkins Hospital, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Children’s National Medical Centre.
He then furthered his training with a fellowship at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS with a focus on cleft lip and palate surgery, as well as orthognathic (corrective jaw) surgery. Scott has a particular specialization and interest in orthognathic surgery. He enjoys the impact these types of surgeries can have on a person’s daily life, by improving jaw function and confidence in their smile and overall appearance.
Scott has extensive training and experience in digital treatment planning for dental implants, orthognathic surgery and reconstructive surgery. He holds privileges at Kelowna General Hospital and is on-call for facial trauma. He is also a member of Interior Health’s Cleft Lip and Palate Team, and a clinical instructor within UBC’s Department of Surgery.
Scott continues to volunteer his time at the Community Dental Access Centre in Vernon. He regularly attends international Cleft Lip and Palate mission trips with a team of Canadian surgeons. Scott completed a Masters in Health Administration at UBC and has a particular interest in health care policy and accessibility to care. He enjoys collaborating with his colleagues and regularly attends and provides seminars to local dental and medical study clubs and associations. He sits on several committees at the local, provincial, and national levels. He has been recognized for his volunteer and community involvement by his peers, honouring him with several recognitions, including fellowship to the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy of Dentists.
KOFS is a family business and you will often find Scott’s wife, Laura, and their three daughters at the clinic. Out of the office they are passionate about supporting other local businesses and participating in recreational sports, including squash, triathlons, biking, skiing, and beer tasting.
